Seven gems in their crown, five placed back to back, year to year. I watched all the Champions League finals they were present in, but the most recent. O.L. only had one final where they showed a dominance and that was against Barcelona, in Barca's first or currently only final. I read some people say other teams are better than Olympique Lyonnais, but I think they miss the point. You do not win five straight Champions leagues based on being the best on the day, every day. Real Madrid men had a similar truth. The reality is, like Real MAdrid men, Olympique Lyonnais women have a team built for quality/skill/success but on reaching success again and again, have gained a priceless experience. Many teams in UEFA , especially in england, are deemed to be the best in UEFA, yet they do not show the experience of winning OL does, especially in the UEFA Champions league.
I know an era like this is rare, is not common to any team. I enjoyed and continue to enjoy this era. But, as always, I repeat my simple truth.
Never overassess failure or never underassess success.
OL feminin have depth , but this victory prove OL must rotate better. Parris need more time as a center forward. Buchanan need more time as a center defender. Eugenie LE Sommer is a great player, but she doesn't always have to start, but she also must start enough games to stay fresh. The coach has to get the players to buy into the idea that OL is better than a starting squad , bench squad. OL is a team who rotates more than their opponents and trust their players to be a better team always. OL have no reason to think they can not do another treble but they must rotate more, not to bench anyone, but to trust in the team, make the team believe more in itself. OL has players that are not playing enough like Van Sanden/Bacha/PArris/Lolo they need to play more. I definitely think the Coupe de France needs to be played by the players who usually don't start in the Division 1. Trust the players to be a family.
